Gus Hansen had a marvelous year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only gambler to make it to the last game in three of the events. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You may remember one of the largest pots in high stakes poker recorded history against Daniel Negreanu. He raked in a large pot with quads against Daniel’s full house. Hansen has made many televised poker appearances and is deemed to be one of the best gamblers anywhere in the world. While competing in internet poker, a different side of Hansen has been seen. He frequently participates in the 200/400 No Limit maximum buy-in of Forty Thousand dollars. Hansen generally buys in for the minimum of $16, 000 and plays very weak. He waits for a decent hand and then goes all-in. I accept that Gus is a great poker player but not even close to the everyday players at 200/400NL. Unless Gus is penniless, he has no reason to sit at the game with the minimum buy-in.

Playing for the min takes a majority of the skill out of deep stack poker. Hansen is accepted to be 1 of the greatest poker players anywhere in the world but he cannot buy-in for the total amt.. I believe television can alter our perception of the real world at times. The greatest players in the world could be players you have never heard of before. Gus can be seen competing in internet poker on Full Tilt. He commonly participates in big stakes Omaha and texas hold’em. Gus Hansen has shown himself as a competition player. Can he back up his skills in money games?
