Casino chips have been made from a varied selection of materials in an almost endless assortment of variations since the creation of gambling and the requirement to track winnings. The most commonly seen materials used at this time in the manufacture of cutting-edge poker chips are plastic, clay, and acrylics. Clay chips, the original of the group, have been made in the US since the late 19th century.
Back in the 19th century, poker players seemed to use any small object with value you can imagine. Early poker enthusiasts at times employed jagged gold pieces as well as chips – chiefly manufactured of wood and clay. By the 20th century, poker chip features started to enjoy a greater prominence, and the smooth sides of older chips gave way to chips with slits to hold them neatly arranged with each other.
There is little debate that poker has grown constantly in popularity ever since its beginnings in the 19th century. With the huge advancement of online gaming and unique television shows, public appeal in poker has accelerated more rapidly than ever before. Most people are first introduced to poker by television showssuch as Bravo’s "Celebrity Poker Showdown" or "Poker After Dark," and most will gamble on their first hands on the internet. Regardless of online poker’s growth, not much competes with the feeling of mixing heavy poker chips in your hands, tossing chips into the middle of a casino table, or stacking high pilesstacks of chips after showing a winning hand.
