Do you ever acquire that itch? The itch to wager, to head to the nearest gambling den, to find a great stakes game of Hold’em, to sit at a Black-jack table for hours on end. I really like that itch. And I love to scratch it.
I also like to watch folks bet. No 2 poker faces seem similar. When I gamble I like to assume I put on a poker face that’s impenetrable. Except I know I’ve particular actions. For 1, the only time I smoke is when I wager on poker or Chemin de fer. And then I smoke. Except I smoke no matter whether I am succeeding or losing, regardless of whether I’ve a excellent hand or bad.
I once played in the weekly poker game. The casino game was often 5 card draw. There was a guy who bet with us each and every week who constantly wore a hat. When he was dealt a beneficial hand, unconsciously, he would begin touching and wagering with his hat. Needless to say, he never won.
The greatest poker player I ever saw was a man who created a lot more movements and gestures at a poker table than anybody I had ever met. He was flawless in the way he dressed. Often an high priced suit and tie, boots shined and nails trimmed. He was diligent in this manner. And he was generally brushing his pant leg or holding his hands or putting his chips in tidy little piles.
I use to examine him for hours. I would attempt to see if I could notice his tell. Picking fuzz off his jacket- did this mean he was bluffing? Stacking his chips in a short pile – did this mean he had a great hand?
Several years later I bumped into him in a bar in Chi town and we had a beverage. I asked him if he have been aware of all those activities he created or if they had been unconscious. He told me that every single individual thing he did at a poker table was intentional. He said that everybody is generally checking out everybody else’s poker face. They’re trying to notice the the tell.
So his system was to provide them lots to think about. His thinking was if they have been pondering about him selecting a piece of fuzz off his vest and what it meant they certain weren’t thinking about their cards.
His technique was diversion. And it worked for him. In no way give up a method that operates for you.
