Gus Hansen had a marvelous year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only player to make it to the last poker table in 3 of the competitions. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You may remember one of the largest pots in big stakes poker history against Daniel Negreanu. Hansen secured a large pot with 4 of a kind against Daniel’s full house. Gus has earned many tv poker appearances and is thought to be one of the strongest bettors anywhere in the world. While competing in net poker, another side of Hansen has emerged. He often competes in the 200/400 NL max buy in of $40, 000. Hansen frequently buys in for the min of $16, 000 and plays very weak. He waits patiently for a decent hand and then goes all in. I accept that Gus is an excellent poker player but not even close to the regular players at 200/400no limit. Unless he is penniless, he has absolutely no reason to settle at the table with the min buy-in.

Buying in for the minimum takes a majority of the skill out of deep stack poker. Gus is assumed to be 1 of the best poker players anywhere in the world but he can’t buy in for the total amt.. I think tv can alter our perception of the real world at times. The best players in the world could be players you have won’t have heard about. Gus can be found participating in internet poker on Full Tilt. He usually participates in big stakes omaha/8 and hold’em. Gus Hansen has proven himself as a competition player. Can he back up his abilities in money games?
