Gus Hansen had a wonderful year on the WPT where he was the only player to make it to the last game in three of the tournaments. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You may recall one of the biggest pots in high stakes poker recorded history against Daniel Negreanu. He won a big pot with 4 of a kind against Daniel’s full house. Hansen has earned many televised poker appearances and is considered to be one of the greatest bettors anywhere in the world. While gambling on web poker, another side of Hansen has appeared. Gus regularly competes in the 200/400 NL maximum buy in of $40, 000. Gus frequently buys-in for the minimum of $16, 000 and gambles very weak. He sits there waiting for a decent hand and then goes all in. I believe Gus is an excellent poker player but not even close to the everyday players at 200/400no limit. Unless Gus is bankrupt, he has little or no reason to sit at the game with the minimum buy-in.
Playing for the min takes most of the ability out of deep stack poker. Gus is accepted to be one of the best poker players in the world but he can’t buy-in for the full amt.. I think tv can alter our view of the real world every now and then. The best players in the world could be guys you have never heard of before. Gus can be found gambling on online poker on Full Tilt. He generally plays in big stakes omaha/8 and hold’em. Gus has proven himself as a competition player. Can he use his abilities in money rounds?
