Poker has become world acclaimed lately, with televised events and celebrity poker game shows. The games popularity, though, stretches back in fact a bit further than its TV scores. Over the years many variations on the first poker game have been developed, including some games that are not in fact poker anymore. Caribbean stud poker is one of these games. Regardless of the name, Caribbean stud poker is more closely related to vingt-et-un than long-standing poker, in that the gamblers wager against the house rather than the other players. The succeeding hands, are the traditional poker hands. There is little concealment or other types of boondoggle. In Caribbean stud poker, you are expected to pay up before the dealer broadcasting "No further bets." At that point, both you and the casino and of course every one of the other players are given five cards each. After you have observed your hand and the casino’s first card, you have to either make a call bet or accede. The call wager’s amount is akin to your original ante, indicating that the stakes will have doubled. Abandoning means that your ante goes instantaneously to the casino. After the bet is the face off. If the casino doesn’t have ace/king or greater, your bet is returned, plus a figure on par with the ante. If the dealer has a hand with ace/king or better, you succeed if your hand defeats the casino’s hand. The dealer pony’s up cash equal to your ante and set expectations on your call bet. These odds are:

  • Even for a pair or high card
  • two to one for 2 pairs
  • three to one for three of a kind
  • four to one for a straight
  • 5-1 for a flush
  • seven to one for a full house
  • twenty to one for a four of a kind
  • fifty to one for a straight flush
  • 100-1 for a royal flush
