Gus Hansen enjoyed an amazing year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only player to achieve closing table in 3 of the tournaments. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You may recall one of the largest pots in big stakes poker recorded history up against Daniel Negreanu. Gus raked in a large pot with 4 of a kind against Daniel’s full house. Hansen has made many tv poker appearances and is considered to be one of the greatest enthusiasts in the world. While gambling on web poker, another side of Hansen has been seen. Gus regularly plays in the 200/400 NL max buy in of Forty Thousand dollars. Hansen generally buys-in for the min of Sixteen Thousand dollars and plays very poorly. He waits patiently for a decent hand and then pushes all-in. I believe Gus is an amazing poker player but certainly not even close to the everyday players at 200/400no limit. Unless Gus is penniless, he has no reason to play at the game with the min buy-in.
Playing for the minimum takes almost all of the skill out of deep stack poker. Hansen is accepted to be 1 of the best players in the world but he can’t buy in for the total amt.. I think tv can skew our view of the real world every now and then. The best poker players in the world may be guys you have will not have heard of before. Gus can be found playing net poker on Full Tilt. He commonly plays in big stakes omaha high and hold’em. Gus has shown himself as a tournament player. Can he use his abilities in cash games?
