Gus Hansen enjoyed a marvelous year on the WPT where he was the only player to make it to the closing table in 3 of the competitions. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You may recall one of the largest pots in high stakes poker history competing against Daniel Negreanu. Hansen secured a big pot with 4 of a kind against Daniel’s full house. Hansen has made many televised poker appearances and is thought to be one of the greatest gamblers around the world. While gambling on web poker, another side of Hansen has emerged. Gus regularly plays in the 200/400 NL max buy in of $40, 000. Gus frequently buys in for the min of Sixteen Thousand dollars and plays very poorly. He waits patiently for a decent hand and then pushes all-in. I know Gus is a great poker player but not even close to the regular players at 200/400NL. Unless he is penniless, he has little or no reason to settle at the table with the min buy in.

Buying in for the min takes a majority of the skill out of deep stack poker. Gus is presumed to be one of the greatest players in the world but he can’t buy-in for the total amt.. I think television can alter our view of the real world every now and then. The greatest poker players anywhere in the world may be guys you have won’t have heard of. Gus can be seen competing in web poker on Full Tilt. He normally competes in big stakes omaha high and texas hold’em. Gus has shown himself as a competition player. Can he back up his abilities in money rounds?
