Phil Ivey has been branded as the greatest poker player on the globe by most of the top-ranked professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to New Jersey before reaching the age of one. His grandpa taught him penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was hooked on poker and wished to pickup whatever he possibly could about poker. Phil routinely told his grandparents that he was planning on being a professional poker player. He didn’t permit the detrimental feedback from other people destroy his goal of being one of the best poker competitors in the world.
Phil began playing seriously after getting a false ID by the name of Jerome. He practiced his techniques at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The initial few years for Phil were a teaching experience and coming away with a win wasn’t a normal outcome at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 WSOP when he achieved 2 final tables and came away with his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the last table he defeated many of the well known pros including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil decided to take his game to the successive level and headed out west to Las Vegas. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Phil credits his success to dedication and an immeasurable passion for poker. He states that he’s learning every single day and is very humble about his achievements. He knows he makes mistakes in each session of poker and always strives to improve.
Despite the fact that Phil has come first in some big-time tournaments, he favors winning cash games on a normal basis.
