Phil Ivey has been labeled as the greatest poker player on the planet by many of the top-ranked pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before reaching turning one. His papa taught Phil penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was addicted to poker and wished to learn anything he possibly could about poker. He routinely told his elders that he was going to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t let the adverse feedback from other people annihilate his ambition of becoming one of the best poker players on the planet.
Phil started competing seriously after getting a false ID by the name of Jerome. He honed his techniques at the casinos of Atlantic City. The beginning few years for Phil were a learning period and coming away with a win wasn’t a regular outcome at the time. He became known at the 2000 WSOP when he achieved 2 final tables and came away with his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the final table he defeated a number of the better known pros including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil decided to take his game to the next level and headed out west to Sin City. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Ivey credits his achievements to dedication and a continuing love for the game of poker. He says that he’s picking up skills every single day and is incredibly humble about his success. He knows he makes errors every single game of poker and constantly aspires to get better.
Despite the fact that Phil has won some large tournaments, he favors winning cash games on a normal basis.
