Poker has become globally celebrated as of late, with televised tournaments and celebrity poker game shows. The games universal appeal, though, arcs back in fact a bit farther than its TV ratings. Over the years several variants on the original poker game have been created, including some games that are not in reality poker anymore. Caribbean stud poker is 1 of these games. Despite the name, Caribbean stud poker is most closely related to 21 than long-standing poker, in that the players wager against the dealer instead of the other players. The winning hands, are the traditional poker hands. There is little concealment or other types of boondoggle. In Caribbean stud poker, you are expected to ante up prior to the dealer saying "No more wagers." At that instance, both you and the dealer and of course all of the other gamblers acquire five cards. After you have looked at your hand and the bank’s initial card, you need to either make a call wager or bow out. The call bet’s value is equal to your beginning ante, meaning that the stakes will have increased two fold. Giving Up means that your bet goes instantaneously to the bank. After the wager comes the face off. If the dealer does not have ace/king or better, your bet is returned, plus a figure equal to the ante. If the bank does have ace/king or greater, you win if your hand beats the casino’s hand. The casino pony’s up cash equal to your ante and fixed expectations on your call bet. These odds are:
- Even for a pair or high card
- two to one for two pairs
- three to one for 3 of a kind
- four to one for a straight
- five to one for a flush
- 7-1 for a full house
- 20-1 for a 4 of a kind
- fifty to one for a straight flush
- 100-1 for a royal flush
