Gus Hansen enjoyed a wonderful year on the WPT where he was the only player to achieve closing table in 3 of the tournaments. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You may remember one of the largest pots in big stakes poker recorded history competing against Daniel Negreanu. Gus secured a huge pot with quads against Daniel’s full house. Gus has made many televised poker appearances and is deemed to be one of the best bettors around the world. While playing net poker, a different side of Hansen has been seen. He often plays in the 200/400 No Limit max buy-in of $40, 000. Gus frequently buys-in for the minimum of $16, 000 and plays very poorly. He sits there waiting for a good hand and then goes all in. I know Gus is an outstanding poker player but not even close to the regular players at 200/400no limit. Unless Gus is broke, he has absolutely no reason to play at the game with the minimum buy in.
Buying in for the min takes almost all of the ability out of big stack poker. Gus is presumed to be 1 of the best players anywhere in the world but he can’t buy-in for the full amount. I think tv can alter our view of the real world at times. The best players in the world could be guys you have will not have heard about. Gus can be found wagering on internet poker on Full Tilt. He commonly competes in high stakes Omaha and texas holdem. Gus Hansen has shown himself as a tournament player. Can he back up his talents in money rounds?
