Gus Hansen had a wonderful year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only gambler to make it to the last game in three of the tournaments. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he paid $400, 000 to play. You may remember one of the largest pots in high stakes poker recorded history competing against Daniel Negreanu. Hansen secured a massive pot with quads against Negreanu’s full house. Gus has made many televised poker appearances and is thought to be one of the strongest players anywhere in the world. While competing in online poker, another side of Hansen has emerged. Gus frequently participates in the 200/400 NL max buy-in of Forty Thousand dollars. Gus more often than not buys-in for the min of $16, 000 and gambles very poorly. He sits there waiting for a good hand and then pushes all-in. I know Gus is a great poker player but certainly not even close to the everyday players at 200/400no limit. Unless he is broke, he has little or no reason to sit at the game with the minimum buy in.

Playing for the min takes almost all of the expertise out of deep stack poker. Hansen is presumed to be 1 of the greatest poker players anywhere in the world but he cannot buy in for the total amt.. I think tv can skew our view of the real world sometimes. The greatest poker players in the world might be guys you have will not have heard of before. Gus can be seen betting on internet poker on Full Tilt. He normally plays in big stakes omaha/8 and hold’em. Gus has shown himself as a tournament player. Can he use his skills in money games?
